- Bertram Douglass Staheli
BURLEY -- Bert Douglass Staheli, a 101-year-old Burley,Idaho,resident, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the home of his son fromcausesincident to age. He was born in Benjamin, Utah, on Dec. 6, 1903, the son of GeorgeandAgnes Douglass Staheli. He married Vera Pearl Elmer on June 3,1925, inthe Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter-day Saints.Together they had four children. She preceded him indeath. He latermarried Ellen Hansen Russon of Mar Vista, Calif. Shepreceded him indeath also. Later, he married Glenda Tyler Hansen ofMontebello, Calif.,who preceded him in death as well. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daySaints,Bert was the longest continuous temple worker at the LosAngeles Temple,serving there from the time of its opening in 1956until 2000. Survivors include three children, Clarence (Margie Allen) StaheliofBurley, Colleen (Eddie) Ahlin of Santaquin, Utah, and Douglas(MarjorieDethloff) Staheli of Beaver, Utah; five siblings, Wanda Huff,DeanStaheli and Lee Staheli, all of Payson, Utah, Julia RolandofSpringville, Utah, and Barbara Hansen of Emmett, Idaho; 21grandchildren;58 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren;and fourgreat-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his spouses, he was preceded in death by adaughter,Geraldine Lundell; and two siblings, Lucille Simpson ofMagna, Utah, andGerald Staheli of Spanish Fork, Utah. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at the OldStakeCenter, 200 E. 90th S., in Santaquin, Utah. Friends may call from 6to8 p.m. at the Payne Mortuary, 221 W. Main St. in Burley, Idaho,onWednesday, May 4, 2005, and at the church one hour before thefuneral onFriday. Interment will follow in the Payson City Cemetery,805 E. 400 N.,in Payson, Utah.
