Jerry Wayne Kroschel of Montrose died after a lengthy struggle withabrain tumor on Friday, May 20, 2005, at Montrose Memorial Hospital.Hewas 36.
Mr. Kroschel was born on June 9, 1968, at USAF Hospital inWiesbaden,Germany, to Norman Edwin and Wilma Jean (Beardslee)Kroschel. He spenthis childhood in Montrose, graduating from MontroseHigh School.
He was a maintenance man at Best Western Motel in Montrose andaprofessional welder and fabricator at Industrial Systems in Delta.Hemoved to Leadville, where he worked for Vail Manufacturingdoingornamental ironwork. He then moved back to Montrose where heremained.
Mr. Kroschel was a member of Elks Lodge #1235 in Delta, Sons oftheAmerican Legion #24 and Two Mile High Off Road Club. He enjoyedpuzzles,fishing, hunting, camping, welding, snowmobiling, theoutdoors,four-wheel driving, working with his hands and working on hishome.
He is survived by his parents, Norman and Wilma Kroschel of Delta;threebrothers and their wives, Steve and Tari Kroschel of SouthJordan, Utah,Alan and Sangwan Kroschel of Bangkok, Thailand, and Barryand CarrieKroschel of Leadville; his grandmother, Ruby Beardslee ofMontrose;nieces and nephews, Justin, Michael, Mathew, Heather,Tiffany, Ashley andCollette; and numerous relatives and cousins.
Mr. Kroschel was preceded in death by two grandfathers, FloydBeardsleeand Edwin Kroschel; his grandmother, Thelma Lilly; and astepgrandmother,Rose Kroschel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. atCrippinFuneral Home Chapel in Montrose. A funeral service will be heldonThursday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.Intermentwill follow at Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose.
