BARDWELL, Ky. ? Shirley Ruth Casselman Garnett of Pearl City,Hawaii,died on Monday, May 15, 2006, at Hemet Valley Hospital inHemet, Calif.,after a long illness.
Mrs. Garnett was born in Milwaukee on Nov. 17, 1935, to parentsRuthOlive Hicks from Farmington, Waupaca County, Wis., and JohnLeRoyCasselman of Lafayette, Walworth County, Wis.
Mrs. Garnett spent her early years in Milwaukee and graduatedfromChicago Vocational High School, Chicago. She met Mr. CharlesLyndalGarnett from Graves County, Ky., and they were married on April14, 1956,in Chicago. Born to this union were a son, William CharlesGarnett, and adaughter, Clarice Edna Garnett.
Mrs. Garnett was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Mr. CharlesLyndalGarnett of Harrisburg, Ill.; a grandson, Charles Lyndal GarnettII ofHonolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Casselman Dube and Mrs.ClaraCasselman Smith, both of Milwaukee; and one brother, Mr. FrankLeRoyCasselman of Phoenix.
Mrs. Garnett worked for several companies in Chicago. She wasaconcessionaire at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Prior to leaving HawaiiinFebruary 2006, Mrs. Garnett worked for several companies indowntownHonolulu.
Mrs. Garnett leaves behind one son, Mr. William Charles GarnettofKempner, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Clarice Edna Giudice McGary ofHemet,Calif.; one son-in-law, Mr. Larry McGary; one daughter-in-law,Mrs. BettyP. Garnett; five grandchildren; and sixgreat-grandchildren.Grandchildren include Mr. Vincent Giudice Jr. ofRigby, Idaho, Mrs.Cynthia Maria Cody of Avadale, Ariz., Miss ChristinaMarie Giudice ofHemet, Calif., and Master William Charles Garnett IIof Kempner, Texas;and Charles Lyndal Garnett II, deceased.Great-grandchildren include KyleVincent Giudice, Tanner VincentGiudice, Natacha Michelle Williams,Brittany Nicole Williams, AshleyBrook Coen and Autumn Hayden Cody. Sheis also survived by a halfbrother, Mr. Richard John Noble of Oakton, Va.She also leaves behindseveral nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Garnett lived the last 19 years in Hawaii prior to moving from3125South Shields, Chicago. She moved to Hemet, Calif., in February2006, dueto declining health to be near her daughter. She was a memberof theChurch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She joined thechurch andwas confirmed a member of the Logan Square Ward, Chicago.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at MilnerandOrr Funeral Home in Bardwell, Carlisle County, Ky., with intermentatOwens Chapel Cemetery in Melber, Graves County, Ky.
