Notes |
- In the book "Origins of New Mexico families" by Fray Angelico Chaves,
original edition, 1910, revised edition 1992. This book covers families
from the original settlements of 1598, and the others waves of settlements
staring in 1693. Census and Military records provide a good deal of this
info. It is mentioned that Nicolas Duran's daughter Catalina was married
and mentioned Nicolas Duran's widow, Antonia Trujillo,
Through a 1704 land dispute, I believe this Catalina Duran is also related
to Captain Antonio Duran and Miguel Duran. The land dispute centered
on Catalina Duran having permission to grow crops in the absence of the
land owner, Capitan Anthony Montoya, which she planted and harvested
for at least 3 years. Apparently the land was purchased without the
knowledge of Montoya.
