- HARVEY ERNEST WESTBROOK, 87, died Thursday at RiversideCommunityHospital.
Born in Alton, Ill., Mr. Westbrook lived in Riverside twoyears.Previously he lived in Corona 50 years. He owned a carpet andapartmentservice business in Corona before he retired in 1999.Previously he wasan iron worker for more than 30 years.
During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Westbrook was a member of the governing committee of theTemescalDistrict of Boy Scouts. He was a scout leader for Troop 35,which hehelped reorganize in 1983 for developmentally disabledyoungsters. In1986 he won the Distinguished Citizen of the Year awardfrom the TemescalDistrict of the Boy Scouts. He was a member of NewHope Family WorshipChurch, the Elks Lodge and the Lions Club, all inCorona.
He was part Cherokee Indian and started collecting Indianartifacts,including arrowheads and metates in the 1920s. A few yearsago he donatedsome of his collection to the Heritage Room at theCorona Public Library.
Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife, Frances; a son, Terry ofGeorgia;a daughter, Tricia of St. Helena; three stepsons, JimWiltshire of AppleValley, Jonathan Wiltshire of Escondido and JohnWiltshire of GrassValley; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Paul ofIllinois.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Family WorshipinCorona. Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. Monday at ThomasMillerMortuary in Corona. Burial will be private.
