Guess V. Boyd Underwood, 69, of Checotah, passed away on Monday, May23,2005 in the Muskogee Regional Medical Center after a lingeringillness.He was born on March 24, 1936 in Healdton, OK to Gerald Albertand Mollie(Smith) Underwood. Boyd married Alta Schroeder on April 23,1966 inOjinnaga Chihauha, Mexico. He had worked as a plumber/pipefitter andbelonged to the Pipe Fitters Union #430. Boyd had come tothis area fromKansas over thirty years ago. He was a Baptist, andattended the BrushHill Baptist Church. Boyd enjoyed fishing and allthe fisherman's tales,carpenter work and woodworking. Preceding him indeath were his parents,brother Jerry, and three sisters Dorothy,Christine and Jackie.
Survivors include wife, Altha of the home; two daughters ShielaMarieFleming of Vancouver, WA and Karen Jean Underwood of Muskogee;twograndchildren David Fleming and Christie Fleming; and a host ofotherrelatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11;00 a.m. Thursday, May26,2005 in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain BillCrowofficiating. Burial will follow.
